HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

Happy Mother's Day to all the ladies that self sacrifice on a daily basis to give everything they can to their children! What a beautiful and awesome thing, to be a Mother.

Love!

PS
These dandelions are ALL OVER our neighborhood and Christopher and I couldn't help but sacrifice a few to make a heart photo with them to photograph that we used for a card for our Mom's. This was shot on The Impossible Project's AMAZING PX680 Color Protection film!

A BREAK

School has been so exhilarating, but also very time consuming and at times exhausting. Today was my first day off that I've gotten to spend mostly at home in a long time. I've spent the day catching up on my Women's Literature class and my eyes and mind are exhausted! I needed a little break and what's a better distraction than the internet?!

Here are a few websites that I could easily call my happy places, in case you need to get away for a few minutes to hours as well!

- Cubicle Refugee. How she finds this amazing content on a regular basis is beyond me. She must have the most optimized search engine for cool images EVER. Regardless, I'm so happy she shares her eye candy with the world.

- Design Love Fest. If you've read my blog for a while or you know me, my obsession with this cute, ambitious, and talented graphic designer / teacher is no secret. Her blog remains one of my favorites. She writes honestly and loves to share her journey as a rising artists / blogger / cool gal.

- Pinterest. That's a no brainer right? But I've found that Pinterest is only as good as the people you follow! Here's a link to the people I think are pretty darn good pinners.

- Tokyo Camera Style. As if I don't already have a serious issue with camera lust, this website aims to have you searching on Craigslist for camera rarities for the rest of your life.

I'm looking forward to graduating in a few weeks so that I can have a life outside of academia again!

Y'all are following me on Tumblr too right? I'm posting over there more regularly with lots of film photos to boot!

I don't post my digital work often on my blog, but I'm trying to be better about updating my Facebook page for my photography. Won't you give it a "like"?

NEW YORK - E D

I'm officially on Spring Break! I can't believe how time consuming school has been this semester. It's been wonderful though! I'm reading great books written by women, learning how to make color prints in the darkroom, learning to put together sentences in French, and struggling to figure out probability in Math! All but the Math part have been so fun and energizing but I'm left with no time to spend on my beloved internets!

Since it's still 19 degrees in Chicago in March, during my Spring Break, I've decided to go on a few photo adventures and play catch up with posting images! I'd like to start off with our trip to New York from January/February! There are a ton of photos so I'm going to be posting them in small batches on Tumblr and Flickr. I took my Bel Air, Polaroid 680, and LC-A+ with me so the images are from these three cameras.

The trip was so fun and refreshing! We both love New York. It was great to see my photos hanging on the walls at The Impossible Project, going on a photowalk with the amazing Rommel Pecson, eating at favorite places as well as discovering new ones, and just being alone adventuring in the city together. I can't wait to be back in that wonderful city!

S P E C T R A GIVEAWAY!

I love the Spectra camera. I feel like it's the underdog in the Polaroid family of cameras. The SX70 and the Rainbow Box SX70 cameras are the darlings of the family and then there's the odd ball, the Spectra. Well it's time for the Spectra to shine! This camera is awesome!

The Spectra has a lot of neat features. Two of my favorites are the self timer and the ability to turn the flash on or off. The self timer is great for group shots or self portraits but it's also a way to trick the camera into letting you take double exposures!!

That's right, in camera double exposures! There are actually two different ways to go about it. The Impossible Project made a great video showing you how to use the self timer to make a double exposure, here's a link. The other way is to compose your shot, press down on the shutter button and do not release it. While you're still holding the shutter button down, close your camera and open it back up. It doesn't automatically eject your film so you can go ahead and compose your second exposure, this time pressing down the shutter button and then releasing it as you would when taking a normal photo. Your film will eject and magically before your eyes you will have a double exposed instant image! HOW COOL IS THAT?!

I also like that you have the option to add a camera strap. There are a few really fun accessories out there for Spectra cameras as well: a remote control, filter sets, and this awesome close up stand.

So, you might be wondering why I'm bragging on the Spectra, right? It's because the rad folks at The Impossible Project gave me the Spectra pictured above AND some film to giveaway! Who wants her?! You have a few ways of entering: reblog on Tumblr or Tweet a link to the post with the hashtag #xospectra ! There's even a link below this post that will allow you to Tweet directly from Tumblr! I'm picking a winner on March 1st so get to it!
